Police: Wantagh Man Linked to 2 Massapequa Burglaries

Daniel R. Dierberger arrested Tuesday and charged with two recent thefts.

A Wantagh man was nabbed by police Tuesday and charged with committing two recent burglaries in the Massapequa area.

According to detectives, on June 19, Daniel R. Dierberger, 43, of Wantagh entered Song Cuisine restaurant on 179 Jerusalem Ave. in Massapequa through a rear bathroom window.  He removed an undisclosed amount of money and 40 cans of cola from a refrigerator, police said.  DNA evidence left behind at the scene connected Dierberger to the crime, according to detectives.

On Tuesday afternoon, Dierberger was located at the Wantagh Long Island Rail Road Station and placed under arrest without incident.  During the investigation it was determined that the Wantagh man was responsible for a second Burglary which occurred on Jan. 14 at Hairtastic Salon on 942 N. Broadway in North Massapequa, police said.  In this incident an undisclosed amount of money was removed from the store.
