Police: Woman Gave Cousin's Name During Wantagh Traffic Stop

Gina Reyes charged with criminal impersonation incident on Southern State Parkway.

New York State Police arrested a Brentwood woman yesterday for giving a state trooper her cousin's name after being pulled over for a traffic violation in Wantagh.

A New York State police trooper stopped a tan BMW driven by Gina Reyes of Brentwood on the Southern State Parkway by exit 28 (Wantagh Avenue) on Dec. 13, 2010. Police said Reyes gave the name of her cousin to the state trooper after being pulled over. The victim appeared at the New York State Police Barracks in Farmingdale on Monday to inform thee trooper that her cousin had used her name when he stopped her on Dec. 13.

Reyes later voluntarily surrendered to police. She was charged with second-degree criminal impersonation, misdemeanor unlicensed operation, and several other traffic violations. She is scheduled to answer her changes in Nassau County District Court in Hempstead on April 7.
