Seaford Man Arrested for DWI on Southern State

The defendant's blood alcohol content percentage was allegedly more than twice the legal limit.

A Seaford man was arrested Sunday night on the Southern State Parkway in Bellmore for driving while intoxicated (DWI).

According to New York State Police, at 7:56 p.m., troopers were dispatched to a report of an auto accident on the eastbound side of the Southern State Parkway at Newbridge Road.

The operator of a white Chrysler, Philip Coppola, 46, of Seaford, stated that he struck the side of an unknown vehicle that left the scene, police said.

According to police, during the interview, troopers detected a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage. Coppola failed sobriety tests and was subsequently arrested for DWI.

Police said that Coppola produced a positive breath sample of .19 percent BAC.  He was arrested for DWI and traffic violations.

All charges are returnable in Nassau County First District Court on May 11.

The arrest information was supplied by the New York State Police. It does not indicate a conviction.

$20 million of the $40 million will be spent on adding a pocket track, presumably east ofRead More Massapequa. Currently, trains are reversed east of the Wantagh interlocking, and while the engineer walks through the train, it blocks the track. This addition of a "pocket track" will probably also help Wantagh commuters some times, just as an emergency pull-over space on the LIE helps.

True, true, I'm sure there's a political payoff/payback here somewhere.
