Seaford School, Church Placed on Lockdown During Search for Robbery Suspect

St. Williams the Abbot School and St. Williams the Abbot Church placed on police lockdown as precaution during search for robbery suspect in the area.

St. William the Abbot School and St. Williams the Abbot Church were placed on lockdown early Friday afternoon while police searched the area for a male suspect on the loose wanted in connection for a robbery of a nearby gas station.

A Nassau County Police Department spokeswoman said the lockdown was instituted at both the school at 2001 Jackson Ave. and church across the street as a precaution while they searched for the suspect. She said the robbery occurred at a gas station on Sunrise Highway around 1 p.m. near both the school and church, but did not provide details of the incident or a description of what the suspect looked like.

Nassau County Police cars are on scene in front of both the school and church during their search for the suspect. A police helicopter was also circling the area.

A spokeswoman at St. William the Abbot School said just after 2 p.m. that the lockdown was still in place and that police would be escorting students to their buses for dismissal. The lockdown was lifted a short time later at both the shool and church.

The gas station on corner of Sunrise Hwy. and Seaman's Neck Rd. is the one that was robbed.
Anyone know if they caught the suspect(s)??
