Sixth Battalion Parade to Cause Seaford Street Closures Saturday

Nassau County Police Department urges motorists to find alternate routes during parade festivities scheduled to last from 5-7 p.m. near Seaford Fire Department.

Several local roads will be closed early Saturday evening to accomidate the annual being hosted by the .

The parade will assemble in the parking lot at 5 p.m. and proceed southbound on Washington Avenue across Sunrise Highway to Merrick Road. It will then head westbound on Merrick Road to Seamans Neck Road turning northbound toward the Seaford Firehouse located at Southard Avenue and Waverly Avenue.

Sunrise Highway will have intermittent traffic stops from 5-5:30 p.m. at Washington Avenue. Merrick Road will be closed between Seaford Avenue and the Seaford-Oyster Bay Expressway (Route 135) from approximately 5- 7 p.m., according to the Nassau County Police Department. There will also be eastbound exit closures on the Seaford-Oyster Bay Expressway Saturday including at Sunrise Highway from 4:55-5:35 p.m. and Merrick Road from 5:10-7 p.m.

Police said all times are subject to change based on duration of parade. Motorists are advised to use alternate routes during the parade festivities. 

Following the parade, there will be a block party at the Seaford Firehouse consisting of music, refreshments and small bounce houses for the children. Admission is free.

The Sixth Battalion consists of fire departments in Seaford, Wantagh, Levittown, Bellmore, North Bellmore, Merrick, East Meadow, Massapequa and North Massapequa. The
