I wonder if this is the same kid who was involved in the robbery of one of our local drug paraphernalia shops. Or, perhaps, is he one of the kids who taunted Mel? Just curious. If not, then it might be time for some Wantagh of the parents to start, you know, parenting.

I assume the parents will be getting a bill for the damage?

Yes definitely, you're dead on. And the graffiti on the foot bridge, the broken glass in in twin lakes, the drunk drives on the Wantagh pky. How about we blame everything that happens in this town on this one kid with a bottle rocket. Do me a favor and calm down, and try to think about your childhood mischief, or what other people did back when you were a kid. Talk about stereotyping.

Calm down? I'm sorry to disappoint you, but my teenage mischief in Wantagh in the 70s and 80s (and there was plenty, to be honest) did not take the form of arson, burglary, and the harassment of disabled people. Just saying. The point is that the overwhelming majority of kids in Wantagh are very similar to the way my friends and I were. The mischief is largely harmless. There is a always "the crew," however- a small group who really is responsible for much of the harmful mischief in the town. I'm just curious if it was one them.

After the charge is disposed of. He has not been convicted yet. Resitituion may be part of the deal, presuming there will be a deal. This individaul may not have acted alone, and he may implicate others who could share in the restitution. This is a Family Court matter, so most of us may never know the full outcome.
