Vehicle Catches Fire on Hicksville Road

Nobody hurt in blaze near Mobil station at intersection of Merrick Road close to Massapequa-Seaford border.

A minivan traveling south on Hicksville Road close to the Massapequa-Seaford borde burst into flames near a gas station Tuesday morning, authorities said.

The fire broke out near the Mobil station at the intersection of Hicksville and Merrick Road shortly before 10 a.m., police said.

A woman driving alone in the vehicle was able to escape and was not hurt.

The blaze was put out in less than an hour and did not spread to the gas station.

I am glad no one was hurt.. I am curious how can it burst into flames?? That's scary... what makes cars do such a thing??
