Wantagh Carvel Robbed

Police searching for suspect who took unknown amount of money from Merrick Road ice cream store late Tuesday night.

The in Wantagh was robbed late Tuesday night and Nassau County detectives are trying to determine who was responsible for the crime.

According to detectives, a 19-year-old female victim was working at the Carvel located on 3245 Merrick Road when a white male walked into the store at around 10:40 p.m. with his shirt pulled up over the bottom half of his face. He then began yelling and demanded she hand over the store’s money, police said.

The victim complied with the man’s demands before he fled on foot in an unknown direction with an unknown amount of money. The subject is described as being in his twenties and wearing a black tee shirt, black pants, and a gray or tan baseball cap. There were no injuries reported.

Detectives request that anyone with information regarding the Carvel robbery to contact Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS. All callers will remain anonymous.

$20 million of the $40 million will be spent on adding a pocket track, presumably east ofRead More Massapequa. Currently, trains are reversed east of the Wantagh interlocking, and while the engineer walks through the train, it blocks the track. This addition of a "pocket track" will probably also help Wantagh commuters some times, just as an emergency pull-over space on the LIE helps.
