Six people were transported to area hospitals after a van crash on the Southern State Parkway in Wantagh Wednesday afternoon.
The van was traveling eastbound on the Southern State Parkway when it left the highway and struck a tree between Bellmore Road and the Wantagh State Parkway exits. The was one of the emergency response units to arrive at the scene and help victims out of the van.
All occupants in the van were transported to local hospitals with non-life threatening injuries, according to fire officials.
The accident caused traffic in both directions to be stopped for about an hour following the crash.
