UPDATE: Suicidal Person Causes Lockdown at Wantagh Park

A Nassau County Public Information officer confirmed that the incident is now over and the park is no longer on lockdown. 

Several police units - including Emergency Services and Hostage Negotiation Units - were called to the scene and successfully talked the individual out from the vehicle. 

The individual is now undergoing treatment at an area hospital.

Wantagh Park is on lockdown Friday night, according to Nassau County police.

A Public Information Officer told Wantagh-Seaford Patch that a person was in their car, allegedly threatening suicide late Friday afternoon. 

"Police officers evacuated the park," the PIO officer said. 

Police remain on the scene and individuals are not allowed to enter the park at this time.
