Wantagh Teen Charged With Possession of Stolen Bongs

Police say Matthew Cano was in possession of 19 bongs stolen from the former Twisted Glass store in Wantagh.

A Wantagh teen was arrested Tuesday and charged with criminal possession of stolen property after allegedly being found with the 19 bongs that were stolen from a Wantagh Avenue business in early November.

Nassau County Seventh Squad detectives said Matthew Cano, 19, was in possession of the 19 artisan glass tobacco pipes (bongs), which were allegedly stolen by two 16-year old males on Nov. 1 from the Twisted Glass store on 1898 Wantagh Ave. after breaking through a window. The business was closed at the time of the burglary, police said.

The bongs were valued at more than $10,000, police said.

The 16-year old defendants were arrested this past weekend following a two-month investigation and charged with third-degree burglary.

Cano is scheduled for arraignment on Jan. 23 at First District Court in Hempstead.

Had no idea "Bongs" could be that valuable or used for tobacco.

I am dating myself, but does anyone else remember Home Decor in the Sunrise Mall, circa 1983? I remember buying a Jim Morrison black velvet poster in the back room, the one where they sold their "for tobacco only" items. Was a farce then and even more so now. Makes for a nice introduction to Wantagh when a young family is sitting in Century 21 right across the street, considering the purchase of a home, and they get to look out the window and see the "Twisted Glass- for tobacco use only" van parked on the sidewalk across the street.
Welcome to suburbia! Buy hey, we've got great athletics programs.

Just be sure to wear body armor when you attend an event in the gym.

MMJ (medical mary jane) is legal in New Jersey, Massachusetts, and sixteen other states - even Washington DC. Instead of stealing, try legally investing in @marijuanastocks via Twitter.

Two month investigation for a couple of 16 year olds breaking the window of twisted glass and stealing a bunch of bongs? Out tax dollars at work. I wonder what this big investigation cost? Way to go NCPD! You should have just folled the smoking bongs LOL
