Woman Pleads Guilty to Murdering Ex-Husband, Dumping Body in Wantagh

Nancy Boland of North Bellmore faces seven years behind bars in manslaughter charge for stabbing ex-husband to death and dumping his body on the Wantagh State Parkway bike path.

A North Bellmore woman has pleaded guilty to manslaughter and other charges for stabbing her ex-husband to death during an argument in November 2011 before dumping his body in Wantagh.

According to Nassau County District Attorney Kathleen Rice, Nancy Boland, 57, pleaded guilty Tuesday morning to the entire indictment against her, including manslaughter in the first degree, aggravated criminal contempt, criminal contempt in the first degree, three counts of tampering with physical evidence and criminal possession of a weapon in the third degree.

The guilty plea came in exchange for a promised sentence of seven years in prison. The DA’s office recommended a 12-year sentence.

Rice said that in the late evening of Nov. 16, 2011, Boland and her ex-husband, Walter Boland, with whom she still lived on Waltoffer Avenue, got into an argument.

The argument escalated when she claimed that he threatened her with a sharp-bladed instrument. Nancy Boland said that she grabbed it out his hand and stabbed him with it once in the abdomen, driving it upward and four inches deep, Rice said.

Nancy Boland, against whom her ex-husband had a valid order of protection, told police that he refused to be taken to the hospital and that she left him at home to go to work the following day. When she returned home, she found Walter unresponsive, Rice said.

After dressing him and attempting to feed him, she concluded that he was dead, waiting until after dark to then drag his body to her mother’s car, Rice said. She dumped his body on the Wantagh State Parkway bike path north of Sunrise Highway where it was found by a jogger in the early morning of Nov. 18.

After stabbing the victim, Boland told family, friends and co-workers that he had stormed off after an argument and hadn’t returned, Rice said. When his body was discovered, Boland told them that she was worried it might be her ex-husband.

“Nancy Boland’s conduct after the killing of her ex-husband proves that this was no accident and not self-defense,” Rice said. “She attempted to cover her tracks by lying to family and friends about her ex-husband’s whereabouts, and then dumped him on the side of the road like a piece of trash.”

Boland will be sentenced March 13.

Seven Years ? What is wrong with this picture...she killed him and it seems like a long and painful death, not instantaneously. She stabbed him, left him there to bleed out and then returned to dress him and try to feed him. This woman should be locked up FOREVER! If not, she should be permitted to live in the house with the plea maker when she gets out.

The judge that gave out that sentence should house her after she gets out of jail and see how long he lasts. This is why the criminals keep doing what they do, there needs to be a real JUSTICE system that punishes criminals!
