Extension of Tax Deadline Granted for Residents in Wantagh, Seaford School Districts

Extension concerns the deadline by which school taxes must be paid in order avoid a penalty.

A tax deadline extension has been approved by the governor for several school districts, including Wantagh and Seaford.

Hempstead Town Supervisor Kate Murray and Receiver of Taxes Donald X. Clavin, Jr. had requested the extension for all school districts within the township, however the governor has signed an order that only includes districts which have independently requested an extension.

Accordingly, residents of both Wantagh and Seaford School Districts may pay their school taxes, without penalty, until Dec. 4.

Residents of all other districts in Hempstead Town must make their payments by not later than Tuesday, Nov. 13, to avoid incurring a penalty.

$20 million of the $40 million will be spent on adding a pocket track, presumably east ofRead More Massapequa. Currently, trains are reversed east of the Wantagh interlocking, and while the engineer walks through the train, it blocks the track. This addition of a "pocket track" will probably also help Wantagh commuters some times, just as an emergency pull-over space on the LIE helps.

True, true, I'm sure there's a political payoff/payback here somewhere.
