FEMA Disaster Recovery Center Opens at Cedar Creek Park

New FEMA operation in Seaford is part of Hurricane Sandy Mega Recovery Center opened earlier this week.

Nassau County Executive Edward P. Mangano announced Thursday morning that a Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Disaster Recovery Center is now open at Cedar Creek Park in Seaford for residents whose homes were damaged by Superstorm Sandy. 

The FEMA operation inside the park , which is located off Merrick Road on the Seaford-Wantagh border, is part of the Hurricane Sandy Mega Recovery Center opened earlier this week. FEMA’s Disaster Recovery Center at Cedar Creek Park is open daily from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. 

County officials said FEMA applicants may go to the new center in Seaford to receive guidance regarding disaster recovery aid and clarification of any written correspondence received. Other information provided at the center include housing assistance, details on resources for renting, status of applications being processed by FEMA, as well as U.S. Small Business Administration program details.

Cedar Creek is also the site of an insurance resource center formed in partnership with the New York State Department of Financial Services. An American Red Cross feeding site as well as shower and laundry facilities have also been made available in the park for residents in need.
