Flooding at Wantagh State Parkway Entrance

Access road swamped with rainwater and melting snow.

Melting snow from this weekend's blizzard combined with Monday's steady rain has caused flooding across parts of Wantagh.

The access road to the Wantagh State Parkway, Poplar Place, is flooded. Cars were seen swerving out of the way and continuing north on Wantagh Avenue.

An email sent to the New York State Department of Transportation was not immediately returned.

The National Weather Service is currently calling for more rain and widespread dense fog through the remainder of Monday. Visibility will frequently be reduced to one-quarter mile or less. The NWS advises motorists to use low-bean headlights when driving and leave plenty of distance ahead in case a sudden stop is needed.
