Hempstead Animal Shelter Waiving Canine Adoption Fees on Oct. 27

Wantagh facility joining 5,000 shelters across nation in marking National Adopt a Shelter Dog Month.

The Hempstead Town Animal Shelter in Wantagh will join some 5,000 shelters throughout the nation in marking National Adopt a Shelter Dog Month this October.

On Saturday, Oct. 27 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Animal Shelter, all fees will be waived on canine adoptions, spaying/neutering, rabies vaccinations and microchipping.

“The Town of Hempstead Animal Shelter is proud to mark National Adopt a Shelter Dog Month by waiving fees for adoptions, spaying/neutering, rabies vaccinations and microchipping on October 27th,” said Shelter Director Cynthia Iacopella. “We encourage residents to come down to the shelter and adopt a four-legged friend who will be a loyal companion for years to come.”

Shelter staff will be on hand to help residents find the perfect pup for their families.And, with Halloween just around the corner, residents can purchase costumes at the shelter to dress up their new pal.

A bake sale and raffle will be held, with proceeds benefiting the shelter’s Tails of Hope Fund, used to help finance extraordinary surgeries for animals.
