The Hempstead Town Animal Shelter recently earned perfect grades from the New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets, which recently handed down its Municipal Shelter and Dog Control Officer inspection reports.
The Wantagh-based town Animal Shelter graded “satisfactory” – the highest rating possible – in all 30 categories associated with the inspections, with no deficiencies found.
“We are proud that New York State has recognized the hard work of our staff in providing excellent care for the animals at the Town of Hempstead Animal Shelter,” stated Supervisor Kate Murray. “The Town of Hempstead is dedicated to maintaining an outstanding shelter for the animals and their future adopting families.”
The Municipal Shelter Inspection Report cites that the town Animal Shelter is safe, clean, well-lit, well-ventilated and has adequate space available for all dogs.
Additionally, the Dog Control Officer Inspection Report showed that the Shelter maintained comprehensive records of the dogs, provided veterinary care when necessary and maintained safe, sanitary equipment for both the capture and housing of dogs.
“These reports support the fact that Hempstead Town runs one of finest animal shelters anywhere,” concluded Murray.
The shelter earned the same rating last year.
