Legislator Denenberg Holding Community Meetings in June

Area lawmaker to hold forums in Wantagh and North Bellmore next month.

Nassau County Legis. Dave Denenberg, D-Merrick, will be hosting two community meetings next month in Wantagh and North Bellmore.

The meetings slated for June 13 at the Wantagh Public Library and June 20 at the North Bellmore Public Library will include representatives from the Nassau County Police Department. The police will discuss the precinct consolidation status, recent burglaries, staffing, crime, traffic enforcement, neighborhood issues, problem oriented policing and the goals of law enforcement. The majority of both meetings, which begin at 7:30 p.m., is reserved for questions and answers.

Legislator Denenberg said he urges people who attend the June 20 meeting in North Bellmore to bring expired, unused and unwanted prescription medications “for disposal in a safe and environmentally friendly manner.”  According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, more than 60,000 children are treated in emergency departments due to accidental unsupervised ingestions each year, Denenberg explained.  The medication drop-off hours at the June 20 meeting are from 7 to 9 p.m.
