MacArthur HS Students to Compete in Business Development Challenge

Local school selected to take part in first-ever "Comptroller's Entrepreneurial High School Challenge."

MacArthur High School has been chosen to compete in the first-ever "Comptroller's Entrepreneurial High School Challenge," where over 200 business students in Nassau County will be competing for scholarship prizes from various sponsors.

MacArthur is located in the Levittown School District and is also attended by students in northern sections of Wantagh and Seaford.

"My office has created a competition where the leaders of tomorrow will be challenged today to come up with business ideas that they feel will thrive in Nassau County,” Comptroller George Maragos said in a release.

A press conference will be held on Tuesday at 11:30 a.m. at Massapequa High School to announce the details of the competition. The kick-off event takes place on April 17.

Other local high school's participating include Division, Plainedge, New Hyde Park, Hicksville and Freeport High School.

The event can be followed on Twitter and Facebook.

$20 million of the $40 million will be spent on adding a pocket track, presumably east ofRead More Massapequa. Currently, trains are reversed east of the Wantagh interlocking, and while the engineer walks through the train, it blocks the track. This addition of a "pocket track" will probably also help Wantagh commuters some times, just as an emergency pull-over space on the LIE helps.

A tantalizing, mind-teasing story about a faceless team with no names who won honorable mention forRead More some project about which we learned absolutely nothing from this article. Journalism 101: Who what, why when and where?
