Nassau County Soccer League to Call Seaford Home

Youth league will begin in late September at new Cedar Creek Athletic Complex.

The Nassau County Soccer League will be played at a this fall.

Nassau County Executive Edward P. Mangano announced last week that the youth soccer league will start Sept. 28 and take place at new synthetic athletic fields in Seaford's . The league, which lasts until Nov. 9, will hold games on Friday evenings at 6 p.m. and is geared toward combining instruction along with offering the fun and excitement of game action.

The n that was dedicated on June 16 features two multi-sport synthetic turf fields that are marked for soccer, football and lacrosse games. The  feature scoreboards and spectator bleachers. The project cost for design and construction was $3.5 million, of which $1 million was funded from the 2006 Environmental Bond Act and the remainder coming from capital funds.

The Nassau County Soccer League offers three age groups for both boys and girls including seven and under, eight and under and nine and under. For additional information including registration forms and requirements, call 516-572-0230 or visit the Nassau County Soccer League website.

$20 million of the $40 million will be spent on adding a pocket track, presumably east ofRead More Massapequa. Currently, trains are reversed east of the Wantagh interlocking, and while the engineer walks through the train, it blocks the track. This addition of a "pocket track" will probably also help Wantagh commuters some times, just as an emergency pull-over space on the LIE helps.
