Relief Supplies To Be Offered For Seaford Sandy Victims Tuesday

State Sen. Charles Fuschillo, R-Merrick, and Long Island Cares partnering to offer free mobile food & distribution program at Seaford Harbor School.

A local lawmaker and Long Island hunger relief organization are teaming up in providing supplies to area victims of Superstorm Sandy.

State Sen. Charles Fushillo, R-Merrick, and Long Island Cares will be sponsoring a free mobile food & supply distribition program this Tuesday at the Seaford Harbor School from 4-7 p.m. Thousands of pounds of food, water and supplies will be brought in to help residents who have been impacted by the aftermath of the Oct. 29 superstorm, which hit the Seaford Harbor area south of Merrick Road especially hard.

Residents will be able to obtain the following items free of charge:

  • Non-perishable food items
  • Water
  • Diapers & baby wipes
  • Cleaning products
  • Paper goods (napkins, paper towels, & toilet paper)
  • School supplies

Individuals will be served on a first come, first served basis. No appointments are required.

State Senator Fuschillo's office and Long Island Cares will also be offering the free mobil food and supply distribition program at Temple Sinai of Massapequa on Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on 270 Clocks Blvd. in Massapequa.

$20 million of the $40 million will be spent on adding a pocket track, presumably east ofRead More Massapequa. Currently, trains are reversed east of the Wantagh interlocking, and while the engineer walks through the train, it blocks the track. This addition of a "pocket track" will probably also help Wantagh commuters some times, just as an emergency pull-over space on the LIE helps.
