Seaford HS Students to Participate in Cyber-Bullying Informational Webcast

Becky DelGiudice and Zachary Pensa will address challenges students face with cyber-bullying today in Feb. 7 webcast presented by State Sen. Charles Fuschillo.

Two students will be taking part in an upcoming informational webcast aimed at helping youngsters and parents be better prepared to confront dangers of cyber-bullying.

The webcast, which will feature an informational discussion about cyber bullying and the impact it has on children, will be streamed live on the website of State Sen. Charles Fuschillo, R-Merrick, on Feb. 7 from 7-7:30 p.m. Seaford High School students Becky DelGiudice and Zachary Pensa will speak during the webcast about the challenges teens face with cyber-bullying today.

The webcast will address steps students can take if they are being bullied, as well as the importance of looking out for each other and not being a bystander when cyber-bullying occurs. In addition, parents will learn about the warning signs to spot if their child might be being bullied. It will also provide informational resources about where students affected by cyber bullying can turn for help.

State Sen. Fuschillo will be joined on the webcast by by John Halligan, whose 13- year old son Ryan committed suicide in 2003 after continually being bullied, ridiculed, and humiliated by his classmates in school and over the internet. Since his son’s death, Halligan has traveled across the country to tell other students about Ryan’s story to help them understand the devastating impact that bullying and cyber bullying has on its victims.
