Shelter Animal of the Week: Meet Coconut

Foster this feline or give her a forever home.

Name: Coconut

Case: #3607

Hi, I'm Coconut, a 6-year-old white and grey, domestic long-hair cat. Right now, I'm staying at the in Wantagh. I've been here since Jan. 3, when I was surrendered by my owner because she was moving.

I am a very sweet and loving cat, but I do have diabetes and require a daily shot. I have been front declawed and spayed, and I'm up-to-date on vaccinations.

Although I am a highly adoptable cat, I would be less stressed in a foster home while the shelter works to find me my "forever home."

The purpose of the fostering program is to provide a home environment to animals like Coconut, as well as the opportunity to evaluate the animal’s behavior around other dogs, cats, and children. The Town of Hempstead Animal Shelter provides the foster home with training, food, supplies and medical care during the animal’s stay in foster care, and asks the foster volunteer to provide weekly reports to its Volunteer Coordinator.
