Town: Area Roads 'Passable'

Warming centers open through Saturday.

After a snow storm blanketed the Wantagh-Seaford area Friday morning, Town of Hempstead officials said that area rooads were "passable" Friday afternoon.

"We will continue to clear roadways for the safety of those traveling on town streets," said Mike Deery, the town's Director of Communications.  "Roads are passable as we continue to groom them and clear remaining snow.”

Deery said workers hit town streets and commuter lots early Thursday morning, and salted the area throughout the day, before plows went through the area late Thursday night.

Plowing continued throughout the day Friday and Deery said that some drifting has occurred due to high winds.
