Wantagh Charity Holding Annual School Supply Collection Drive

The John Theissen Children's Foundation Assemblyman in conjunction with Assemblyman David McDonough, R-Merrick, is collecting school supplies through Aug. 24.

The Wantagh-based  in conjunction with Assemblyman David McDonough, R-Merrick, is seeking the donation of school supplies for the 2012-13 school year, which will then be distributed to underprivileged children from low-income families.

Donations that are being sought are supplies that include, but are not limited to, backpacks, spiral notebooks, pencils, pens, crayons, markers and other classroom necessities.  In addition, the foundation, through monetary donations also provides new clothing for children to wear.

“The John Theissen Children’s Foundation has been conducting a ‘Back to School Program’ for several years,” said McDonough in a statement. “Back to school time can be extremely difficult for many children whose families cannot afford new clothes or school supplies.”

The collection drive is being held until Aug. 24 between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. daily.  Items may be dropped off at Assemblyman McDonough’s District Office on 404 Bedford Ave. in Bellmore. Items can also be dropped off to the John Theissen Children's Foundation headquarters on 1881 Wantagh Ave. until Aug, 27.
