Wantagh Library Vote set for Tuesday

Library proposing small increase for its 2013/14 spending plan.

The proposed 2013/14 Wantagh Public Library budget will be decided by voters Tuesday.

The library’s proposed $2.4 million spending plan is a $38,284 increase over the current 2012/13 budget. Library officials said if the budget is approved, there would be a $2.54 tax increase for the average Wantagh homeowner.

“We are proud to present a budget that adheres to the two percent tax cap while still maintaining the high level of service expected by the Wantagh community,” said Wantagh Public Library Director Maggie Marino in the library’s latest newsletter. “Everyone at the Wantagh Library is working hard to ensure that we provide the Wantagh community with excellent library service.”

Voting on the library budget is scheduled Tuesday from 1-9 p.m. in the community room of the Wantagh Public Library.
