Wantagh Park Swimming Pool Opens

County-run facility will be available seven days a week until Labor Day.

The outdoor swimming pool at opened for the summer Monday and will be available to cool off from the hot temperatures until Labor Day.

Wantagh Park and the other county-run pools will be open seven days a week from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. The Wantagh Park swimming complex includes an Olympic-sized main pool along with a diving pool, “kiddie” pool and training pool. The facility also offers an interactive water-play area and two 30-foot waterslides. 

Other Nassau County pool locations that opened Monday include Christopher Morley Park in Roslyn, Cantiague Park in Hicksville and North Woodmere Park. Another county pool at Nickerson  Beach in Lido Beach opened on June 16.

$20 million of the $40 million will be spent on adding a pocket track, presumably east ofRead More Massapequa. Currently, trains are reversed east of the Wantagh interlocking, and while the engineer walks through the train, it blocks the track. This addition of a "pocket track" will probably also help Wantagh commuters some times, just as an emergency pull-over space on the LIE helps.
