Construction Begins on New Retail Plaza in Seaford

Five storefronts including one pharmacy planned for property on 4008 Jerusalem Ave.

Construction has commenced on a new retail plaza in Seaford.

The one-story building planned for 4008 Jerusalem Ave. will include five storefronts including a pharmacy, according to Hempstead Town Press Secretary Susan Trenkle-Pokalsky. The property, which was formerly home to a gas station, is located at the corner of Washington Avenue next to a new Pironi Homes development.

The developer for the retail project, Syosset-based ANA Realty, did not return calls seeking comment on what businesses were planned at the site or an estimated completion date. ANA Realty received a variance from the Town of Hempstead Board of Zoning Appeals on March 21 for off-street parking. A construction permit permit was issued to ANA Realty on Aug. 16.

Trenkle-Pokalsky said among the conditions from the zoning board's approval was that no cabaret, bars, or taverns be permitted on the site. In addition to the five businesses, the property will also include a parking lot.
