Medical Care Facility Planned for New Sunrise Highway Plaza

North Shore Urgent Care fills final spot in new Wantagh Town Plaza.

A medical care facility has filled the last spot in a new retail plaza off Sunrise Highway in Wantagh.

North Shore Urgent Care has leased the northernmost space in the 0.72-acre property, which was formerly occupied by Nassau OTB before Larry Weinger of Bellmore-based MGD Investments acquired the parcel for $3.4 million in 2009. The Wantagh Town Plaza on 3430 Sunrise Hwy. also features national frozen yogurt franchise Red Mango, which opened in October, as well as a soon-to-open Anthony's Coal Fired Pizza and Mathnasium.

North Shore Urgent Care also has locations in Nesconset and East Northport. The Nesconset-based company offers general medical care and urgent care services.

$20 million of the $40 million will be spent on adding a pocket track, presumably east ofRead More Massapequa. Currently, trains are reversed east of the Wantagh interlocking, and while the engineer walks through the train, it blocks the track. This addition of a "pocket track" will probably also help Wantagh commuters some times, just as an emergency pull-over space on the LIE helps.

True, true, I'm sure there's a political payoff/payback here somewhere.

A tantalizing, mind-teasing story about a faceless team with no names who won honorable mention forRead More some project about which we learned absolutely nothing from this article. Journalism 101: Who what, why when and where?
