Seaford Pathmark Sold

Supermarket on Merrick Road sold for $48.76 million as part of a three-grocery store portfolio.

The Seaford Pathmark has been sold for $48.76 million as part of a three-grocery store portfolio, according to Co.star.com.

The portfolio, which was sold by Concord, Mass.-based Winstanley Enterprises to Inland Real Estate Group of Oakbrook, Ill., includes three buildings leased to Pathmark in Seaford, Upper Darby, Pa. and Wilmington, Del. The three buildings total 142,663 square feet and have about 18 years remaining on lease terms. The price per square foot totals approximately $342, Co.star.com reported.

The Pathmark on 4055 Merrick Road is the only chain grocery store in Seaford.

so does this mean that Pathmark is going out and another supermarket will come in?

Preferably the new store won't have the rancid smell Pathmark has now.

re-read the article, it was sold to a real estate company. prime location, they will
probably turn it into a nice senior condo complex, right next to a lake

The story says there is about 18 years remaining on the leases. Don't expect anything to change there anytime soon, but it's doubtful A&P will be in business that long.

I wish the Patch would do their homework and clear up all of this. I have no idea what this means for Seaford's Pathmark.

@Mista - I'm sure the Editor published what he knows to date. I'm guessing that his source was probably very vague with details.

I for one am glad this place was sold. I do hope we get another store though. I would love, love to see a Whole Foods put there, The closest one is in Jericho although there is a similar type store called "Wild By Nature" it's a large Trader Joe's or a smaller Whole Foods type place and it's in Oceanside. So we do need another store. I'm tired of being tied to Walbaum's overpriced items and would like a choice.

Pathmark's prices are reasonable, and I do my "dry" shopping there (canned goods, paper goods) but I don't buy meat there and definitely not cold cuts.

Joan - agreed - the meat is of very poor quality uggg - Waldbaums has better meat/poultry, but they are expensive

king kullen is closer than waldbaums and they're super nice and the store(s) are a hell of a lot nicer.

I agree with OPN!!! WHOLEFOODS, but I will guarantee that isnt going to happen as they only place their stores in a certain "per capita" market.(we dont qualify) Trader Joes would be my next choice and it would be a nice addtion to the MIX of local supermarket options within a few miles. FYI head to Best Markets in
Massapequa on Merrick road.Nice small town feel and failry good pricing. While this ISNT your shop till ya drop supermarket, but a friendly Grocery store hitting all the needs and must haves with some great weekly specials on quality prime meats.

I thought I was the only one that smelled the awful odor at the front entrance of that store. I try not to shop there, and if I do, I buy dry goods only. The store needs a makeover!
Joan Mylonas October 12, 2012 at 04:12 pm
I agree that King Kullen is a nice store, but very expensive

1st of all if ALL you people can read, there is still 18yrs left on the lease, I really doubt anything will happen anytime soon so stop jumping to conclusions..2nd for all you people that complain you give them your business whether its "dry food or " paper goods " the store maybe be a wreck but its the one thing thats actually close to my house and do not have to travel far....
Lorraine DeVita October 12, 2012 at 05:41 pm
@DeeJorge- i guess its all a matter of perspective and preference - and we can dream cant we? lets just say regardless of what goes there it will be a major improvement over "stinkmark" just hope the employees are taken care of , they are nice people..
