About this resolution: "... It is a tale... Told by an idiot, full of sound and fury.... Signifying nothing." — Macbeth (Act 5, Scene 5) ............................................................................................. About the Wantagh Board of Education calling upon the Commissioner of Education, thusly: "Go ahead...make my day!" Harry Callahan (Sudden Impact)

I'm still unsure of why these tests are deemed 'high stakes'? Who made these tests higher stakes than other tests? Where is the 'stress' that the resolution is claiming coming from? If a child performs poorly, don't they deserve the help they need? Are kids left back or negatively impacted by doing poorly on the test? If so, why is there an ability to opt-out and how does it impact those kids? What does this all really mean to our district? What has been 'resolved' and what will change as a result of this declaration?

Means the Unions are Annoyed that the results of these tests are counted on their performance reviews. The stress is applied by the adults ... on the home front and in the classroom.. what parents should be more concerned about is the likelihood that when their kids get to college(IF they get to college) they will be farther behind those students whose communities and SD put MORE emphasis on challenging academics then less on the feel good stuff that parents clamor for.
