Brief Power Outage Affected Three Wantagh Schools

Transformer issue cuts power Monday.

A power outage affected three Wantagh schools on Monday morning, school officials said.

The late morning blackout caused a brief disruption at Wantagh High School, Wantagh Middle School and Mandalay Elementary School, according to a district spokeswoman.

Power company PSE&G had problems with a transformer . The outage only lasted a few minutes, the spokeswoman said.

That the high school and middle school would both be affected by a transformer problem makes sense. However, Mandalay is far removed from the HS/MS complex, and on the opposite side of WS Parkway, which does not make sense for their having been affected by the same event as the HS/MS.

Did any of the surrounding homes lose power or just the schools.
