First Part of Seaford Middle School Winter Sports Season Salvaged

Save Seaford Sports organization reaches first step of its goal to restore cut middle school winter and spring seasons.

Dedicated parents who have worked hard since the summer to salvage the  sports teams cut from the 2011/12 budget have achieved the first step in their goal.

Save Seaford Sports, the organization  to raising the necessary $141,000 needed to restore the cut middle school teams, has raised more than $43,00, which is enough to salvage the winter sports I season that begins in mid November. The organization is now aiming to raise another $28,000, which would restore the winter sports II season that begins in mid January. An additional $70,000 would then be needed to bring back the middle school spring athletics season that starts in mid March.

The Seaford Board of Education is planning to formally accept a $43,000 check from Save Seaford Sports during its next meeting on Nov. 3 for the middle school winter I season, which includes boys basketball, girls volleyball and cheerleading.
