Informational Meeting on Proposed Seaford Avenue Sale Set for Thursday Night

Forum on proposed 55 and older condominium development at former elementary school property scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. in Seaford High School Auditorium.

The developer hoping to get voter approval to construct a new condominium development at the former Seaford Avenue School property will be giving a presentation on the proposal Thursday night.

Representatives of BK at Seaford, LLC, a subsidiary of The Engel Burman Group, will be speaking at the Seaford High School Auditorium starting at 7 p.m. Thursday about their plans for the property on 2160 Seaford Ave. The proposed project, called "Seasons at Seaford," would consist of between 100 and 113 condominium units that will be designated as housing for residents 55 years of age or older. The units, which will be sold in the 350,000-$400,000 range and first offered to Seaford residents and their parents, will have two bedrooms and two full bathrooms and the facility will offer a central clubhouse with a fitness center and outdoor pool.

BK at Seaford, LLC is in contract to purchase the Seaford Avenue School property for around $5 million if voters approve a referendum on the sale scheduled for Oct. 16. The late 1930s-built Seaford Avenue School closed in 1981 and was leased to Five Towns College from 1982-1992 and Nassau BOCES from 1992-2010. District officials said the sale of the property to BK at Seaford is approved, an estimated $100,000 in annual maintenance costs would be saved.

True, true, I'm sure there's a political payoff/payback here somewhere.

A tantalizing, mind-teasing story about a faceless team with no names who won honorable mention forRead More some project about which we learned absolutely nothing from this article. Journalism 101: Who what, why when and where?
