MacArthur HS Senior from Wantagh Named National Hispanic Scholar

Gabriella Ciuffetelli is one of 5,000 students nationwide to receive academic honor.

The Levittown School District recently announced that  MacArthur High School senior Gabriella Ciuffetelli, a Wantagh resident, has been selected as a 2012-13 National Hispanic Recognition Program Scholar.

Although this recognition does not provide a financial award, being selected is an important academic achievement. The National Hispanic Recognition Program was established in 1983 through the National Merit Scholarship Corporation and each year recognizes only 5,000 outstanding Hispanic/Latino students nationwide. Qualifications for recognition are based on critical reading, mathematics and writing scores on the PSAT/NMSQT and a minimum grade point average of 3.0.

The NHRP sends a list of all recognized students to subscribing colleges and universities that are particularly interested in academically outstanding seniors of Hispanic/Latino heritage.

Ciuffetelli is an Advanced Placement Scholar and is a member of both the National Honor Society and the Theatre Honor Society. In addition to a rigorous academic program, Ciuffetelli volunteers as a peer tutor and is involved in the debate team. She is also a four-year member of the Drama Club.

A tantalizing, mind-teasing story about a faceless team with no names who won honorable mention forRead More some project about which we learned absolutely nothing from this article. Journalism 101: Who what, why when and where?

If the trees are at the curb the Town of Hempstead will take them down for $150.00 per tree. If youRead More are a senior the cost to you is zero. Trees on your property are your responsibility.
