MacArthur Seniors From Wantagh Sign to Play Baseball, Softball in College

Wantagh residents Jen Cozza and Thomas Kelleher will continue their athletic careers at collegiate level next year.

Two senior athletes at Levittown’s MacArthur High School who reside in Wantagh have signed National Letters of Intent to continue their sports careers at the collegiate level.

Jen Cozza has signed to play softball at the University of Massachusetts at the University of Massachusetts, while Thomas Kelleher will play baseball at Seton Hall University in New Jersey, the school announced.

Cozza has also played soccer and basketball during her tenure at MacArthur High School and recently volunteered her time coaching basketball camp at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Levittown. She is a member of the National Honor Society and a school Peer Leader.

The senior shortstop Kelleher will continue playing baseball at Seton Hall of the Big East Conference. His speed, power and strong arm assisted in MacArthur winning last year’s League AAII Championship and earning a spot in the Nassau County Championship.

Kelleher played football this year as well and holds a second-place school record for rushing (1,377 yards). He had 20 rushing touchdowns, with a total of 22 touchdowns and scored 132 points, all school records.

$20 million of the $40 million will be spent on adding a pocket track, presumably east ofRead More Massapequa. Currently, trains are reversed east of the Wantagh interlocking, and while the engineer walks through the train, it blocks the track. This addition of a "pocket track" will probably also help Wantagh commuters some times, just as an emergency pull-over space on the LIE helps.

True, true, I'm sure there's a political payoff/payback here somewhere.

A tantalizing, mind-teasing story about a faceless team with no names who won honorable mention forRead More some project about which we learned absolutely nothing from this article. Journalism 101: Who what, why when and where?
