MacArthur Students Skate to Benefit Wantagh Charity

Peer Leaders and ninth-grade class officers help raise $2,200 for John Theissen Children's Foundation.

Peer Leaders and ninth-grade class officers at Levittown's MacArthur High School recently hosted a skate-a-thon at United Skates of America in Seaford to raise money for the Wantagh-based John Theissen Children’s Foundation (JTCF).

After a day at the skating rink, the students raised $2,200, which go toward the JTCF to directly benefit sick and underprivileged children on Long Island.

Theissen, a MacArthur High School graduate, was recently presented with the check. While thanking the students, Theissen told his story of having a brain tumor at 17 years of age. He encouraged the students to stay healthy and to achieve academically.
