Maria Regina School Students Accept Rachel's Challenge

Students make commitment to complete random acts of kindness in program named for 1999 Columbine High School massacre victim Rachel Scott.

The fifth through eighth grade students at in Seaford first accepted Rachel's Challenge four years ago and today they continue to meet weekly to cultivate and atmosphere of acceptance, kindness, and compassion.

Recently, Maria Regina students in grades four through eight made a commitment to complete random acts of kindness, which they wrote on their traced hands.The Rachel's Challenge program, named after Rachel Joy Scott, a shooting victim in the 1999 Columbine High School shooting massacre, has a mission to “inspire, equip and empower every person to create a permanent positive culture change in their school, business and community by starting a chain reaction of kindness and compassion.”

$20 million of the $40 million will be spent on adding a pocket track, presumably east ofRead More Massapequa. Currently, trains are reversed east of the Wantagh interlocking, and while the engineer walks through the train, it blocks the track. This addition of a "pocket track" will probably also help Wantagh commuters some times, just as an emergency pull-over space on the LIE helps.
