May 18: School Vote Results, Billy Dean's Hearing, Playoffs

What's happening in and around Wantagh and Seaford.

1. Yesterday school budget votes were held across the state with mixed results for the Wantagh-Seaford area. The Seaford budget proposal was and the Wantagh spending plan was approved.

2. A rehearing for a planned entertainment facility on 3500 Sunrise Hwy. in Wantagh that many fear will resemble a strip club is for 9:30 a.m. today at Hempstead Town Hall.

3. The baseball and girls lacrosse teams both have playoff games scheduled for today. The Seaford baseball team fresh off its victory over Clarke will begin a best-of-three quarterfinal series at Plainedge today at 4:30 p.m. The Seaford girls lacrosse team hosts Floral Park in the first round of the Class A playoffs at 7 p.m.

4. The wet weather the Wantagh-Seaford area has experience this week is expected to continue today. The National Weather Service is forecasting a 90 percent chance of rain and a high temperature near 64 degrees.

5. The will hold its monthly meeting at on Bayview Street starting at 6 p.m.
