New School Bus Company Starts in Seaford

Start of 2014 brings transportation change.

The start of the new year brought a major difference in the Seaford school district, as a change in bus companies took effect Monday.

The district was forced to make the switch due to the bankruptcy of Staten Island-based Atlantic Express Company, which ceased operations in December.

The new bus company, Educational Bus Transportation, Inc. kicked off the year as Seaford returned from their holiday break.

Seaford Superintendent Brian Conboy said the transition went well.

"The district found that most of the service provided by Educational Bus Inc. ran smoothly and as scheduled, with few unforeseen interruptions that were quickly reported by the district and rectified by the new contractor," Conboy said.

The new company, "has been very accommodating, accessible and communicative about working with us to ensure that service runs in a satisfactory manner and that all of our students arrive at their destinations safely," according to Conboy.
