Past Seaford HS Principal Re-Elected to Long Beach School Board

Patrick Gallagher to serve fourth term as trustee in city where he grew up.

Patrick Gallagher, the former principal at , was re-elected to the Long Beach Board of Education for a fourth consecutive term last Tuesday.

Gallagher, who received 1,726 votes, ran in the at-large election alongside fellow incumbent Dr. Dennis Ryan, who garnered 1,833 votes, and challenger Ari Pine, who yielded 1,016 votes. Gallagher’s fourth three-year term is effective on July 1.

“I think it shows a tremendous amount of respect from the community, and I respect my community strongly to elect me four times in a row,” Gallagher said.

 A life-long Long Beach resident, Gallagher, 64, worked in the Seaford School District for 33 years before he retired as the high school principal in 2001. The following year, he was first elected to the Long Beach school board, and he became a curriculum associate at Syracuse University, a position he still holds. He is also an adjunct professor at Nassau Community College.
