Seaford and the Common Core

Seaford held a presentation on the Common Core standards Wednesday. What concerns do you have on the new standards.

On Wednesday night the Seaford school district held an informational session on the Common Core Learning Standards.

THe program was expected to deal with information about how the curriculum is changing and what materials would be used. But subjects such as testing and evaluations of teachers and administrators weren't on the agenda.

But those topics were discussed at a forum on Common Core in Mineola attended by  state education commissioner John King.

There have been many questions associated with common core and some school boards have passed resolutions asking the state to re-think their reliance on testing.

In addition to questions about testing and appraisals, there have been concerns expressed about personal information being gathered about students by state testing.

We want to know if you're concerned by these issues. If so, what concerns you the most.  Do you have a plan for evaluation that relies less on testing?  Let us know in the comment section below.
