Seaford Baseball Ends Season with Playoff Loss at Bethpage

Vikings fall just short of return trip to Nassau County Class A quarterfinals with 6-2 setback to Eagles.

As the clouds cleared and the bleachers filled with fans, the (11-10) took to the field at Bethpage High School Monday in the second round of the Nassau Class A playoffs hoping for a to the quarterfinals. The host Eagles (14-6-1) proved too much for the Vikings to handle however and put an end to a season filled with almost an entirely new team.

Despite being knocked out of the playoffs, Seaford head coach Mike Milano expressed the pride he holds in his team's performance this season as it was a difficult start with almost an all new starting lineup.

"We couldn't get a big hit today," Milano said. "We faced a really good, experienced team with a really talented left hand pitcher. They hit the baseball better than we did and they got their players on base."

Though the Vikings will lose seven seniors to the class of 2012, Milano is confident in their ability to grow and prosper in 2013 and hopes they can surpass their record from this season.
