Seaford Chamber Concert and Music Honor Society Showcase Talent and Heart

High school musicians inducted into Tri-M Music Honor Society at annual Spring concert.

Seaford High School held it's annual Spring Chamber Concert this past Wednesday night in the Joseph A. Auditorium. The night also featured students inducted into the Tri-M Music Honor Society.

Yvonne Bendzlowicz, the Director of Choirs, hosted the evening which began with the inductions into Tri-M, where selected students were called up and given an honorary green polo shirt.

Bendzlowicz voiced praise for her students, not just for their academic and musical achievements, but for their charity work. A friend of Bendzlowicz's was deployed to Afghanistan in 2009, and since then the students have been making individual care packages for the soldiers. Packages contained items such as toiletries, snacks, games, and handwritten letters from the students.

The choir members that are involved in Tri-M perform at Cohens Children's Hospital in New Hyde Park during December and the spring. The students also bring unwrapped toys for the children.

The Chamber concert itself offered a wide variety of performances from opera, a saxophone ensemble, an acoustic guitar solo, and even a creative cover of the Bruce Springsteen song Rosalita.
