The football schedule in 2011 will offer more than just gridiron action as the Viking program's longtime head coach Rob Perpall has arranged for local community members who have made a difference to be honored prior to three home games.

In Seaford’s opening game against Cold Spring Harbor on Sept. 9, former Viking players who have served their country during the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq will be recognized. After the former players and veterans are introduced and take part in the pre-game coin toss, they will receive commemorative coins from their Seaford football family of players and coaches. All honorees, players and coaches will be wearing custom camouflage tee shirts for this special occasion.

Seaford’s annual Homecoming Game against West Hempstead on Sept. 17 will be in honor of the and their many volunteers. Seaford Fire Department representatives will be introduced and take part in the pre-game coin toss and Viking players and coaches will present them with a token of their appreciation for how they serve the community. All honorees, players and coaches will be wearing red and white tee shirts in honor of the fire department.

The Viking’s third home game against East Rockaway on Oct. 6 will honor Seaford Athletic Director Administrative Assistant Nancy Levinson for surviving her battle with breast cancer, and she serve as a represenative to all who have fought the disease. Levinson will be introduced and take part in the pre-game coin toss and receive a token of our appreciation for all she does for football and the entire athletic department. All honorees, players and coaches will be wearing pink tee shirts in honor of breast cancer awareness.

Perpall said he set the pre-game dedications up because he felt it was
important for the football program to give back to those who make the
community a special place to live.  “I’m trying to make the players
more community-spirited-minded,” said Perpall. “This is a way
for them to appreciate the great town they live in.”

Seaford’s final regular season home game against Conference IV rival Roosevelt on Oct. 21 will be Senior Day with all senior football recognized before the game with their families.

Seaford enters 2011 on a 44-game winning steak against Conference IV opponents after a fourth straight county championship in 2010 before to John Glenn in the Long Island title game.
