Seaford High School Named Among Nation's Most Challenging

Washington Post releases list of "Most Challenging High Schools."

Seaford High School has been ranked 103rd in New York State and 1,409th nationally in the “Most Challenging High Schools” list published by the Washington Post.

A total of 1,933 high schools were ranked throughout the nation on an index the Washington Post determined using a ratio of graduating high school seniors to the number of Advanced Placement, International Baccalaureate and Advanced International Certificate of Education tests given in a single year.

The rankings also take into consideration the number of families that qualify for lunch subsidies and the percentage of graduates who passed one or more college-level exams during their high school careers.

Jericho High School was ranked the top school on Long Island with an overall New York State rank of No. 2 and a No. 80 national ranking. MacArthur High School in Levittown, which is attended by students in northern sections of Wantagh and Seaford, ranked 88th in the state and 1,097 nationally.
