Seaford Manor School Wins Contest for New Playground

A Seaford elementary school will soon be getting a brand new playground thanks to winning a national contest.

Healthy Weight Commitment Foundation and Discovery Education selected Seaford Manor School as a grand prize winner in its Healthy Playground Makeover Sweepstakes. In addition to receiving a new playground, the school will also be the recipient of $30,000 in cash and new sporting goods. 

The Seaford Manor School PTA organized the school's application into the contest and was thanked by Superintendent Brian Conboy at the April 17 board of education meeting for their efforts. 

Seaford Manor School shared the grand prize honor in the contest with Central Intermediate School in Louisiana. New playgrounds will be constructed at both schools courtesy of Playworld Systems.

This year’s Healthy Playground Makeover Sweepstakes was run as part of “Together Counts, a joint program that provides schools nationwide with funds and resources to build healthy environments and help reduce childhood obesity. Through support from Playworld Systems, Good Sports and Wyndham Extra Holidays, more than $175,000 in prizes were awarded to 14 schools across the nation.
