Seaford School District To Use New Bus Company
Educational Bus. Inc. to take over for bankrupt Atlantic Express.
Students in a Seaford school district will have a new school bus company in 2014.
Seaford schools will be served by Educational Bus Service Inc. after the winter break. Transportation had beenprovided by Staten Island-based Atlantic Express Company, which filed for bankruptcy in November.
Atlantic Express will cease operations at the end of the year,but has been allowed to sell their buses by the bankruptcy court, according to the Staten Island Advance.
The school district announced on their website that Educational Bus Service will be taking over the part of of the business that serves Seaford.
At a special board of education meeting Thursday, Superintendent Brian Conboy was authorized to finalize a contract with the new company.
The district says that all of the bus routes remain the same and they expect "a seamless transition."
