Wantagh Football Player Honored as Scholar Athlete

Christian Labenberg named a recipient of the New York State High School Football Coaches Association Highest Class A Scholar-Athlete of the Year.

senior Christian Labenberg was recently named a recipient of the New York State High School Football Coaches Association Highest Class A Scholar-Athlete of the Year. 

Labenberg was a captain for the Wantagh football team this past fall as a starter at offensive guard and defensive end. He helped lead the Warriors to the Nassau County . Wantagh had the second highest rated defense on Long Island. 

Labenberg, who is also on Wantagh's boys lacrosse team, excells in the classroom and is a member of the National Honor Society, the National Business Honor Society and the National Foreign Language Honor Society. He earned scholar athlete recognitions from the National Football Foundation and College Hall of Fame. In addition, the Wantagh senior was named a Nassau County Conference II All-Conference recipient and to the Nassau County Conference II Academic All-Conference.

Although undecided about where he will attend college, Labenberg  is hoping to play football or lacrosse at the collegiate level.
