Wantagh Girls Volleyball Hosts Tournament Fundraiser for Breast Cancer Research

Lady Warriors finish second in 32nd Annual Girls Invitational Volleyball Tournament.

The gymnasiums reverberated with the sounds of digs, sets and spikes during the 32nd Annual Girls Invitational Volleyball Tournament this past weekend.

Eight teams participated with junior varsity (JV) teams playing Friday night and varsity squads challenging on Saturday. Food, t-shirts and raffles were sold by enthusiastic volunteers with some of the proceeds donated to Dig Pink, a foundation that promotes education and research about breast cancer. 

The Wantagh varsity team, , placed second in the tournament after falling to Kellenberg two sets to one in the championship. The Wantagh JV team fell in the semifinals. Wantagh's Carly Simeone was named Tournament MVP.
